Web Development and Media FAQs

My name is Anthony Lees, and for the past ten years I have been a primary school teacher in Devon. I have an interest in and love of music, and have recently chosen to teach part time to allow me to work across Devon as a Wider Opportunities music teacher. You can find out more about me and what I do on the About pages. This website serves as a hub for publicising my services, collating the resources and information I gather and share as part of my work, and allowing those involved in what I do to collaborate and respond to what is going on. I hope you find something here that is of use to you. For all other queries, ther are manyways to contact me on this page, or you can use the contact form.
I am an experienced musician, as well as subject leader for music, and workshop leader. A full range of the services and resources I offer schools can be found on the 'Music Services' main page.
The Wider Opportunities initiative (Also known as Whole Class Instrumental & Vocal Tuition at KS2) is a scheme which finances and facilitates pupils in Key Stage Two receiving whole class music lessons using a set of real instruments. The lessons are sustained, usually for at least a term, and can be on any instrument, including the voice. It is intended to enhance the quality of provision that pupils receive. I am available to work in your establishment under this scheme, with a wide range of instruments, including voice, mixed brass (including trumpets, cornets, trombones, mini horns, euphonium, baritone, etc), djembes, congas, bogos and other drums, samba, taiko, and other percussive groups, as well as guitars, eukules. A full list of what I can currently ofer is available on the workshops and courses pages. More on what wider Opportunities is intended to include, can be found here. For a local perspective, the Devon Music Service explanation of Wider opportunities, can be found here, as well as details of the instrument sets that Devon Music Services can currently loan to your school.
Your school will be in receipt of a proportion of your learning communities finding, to allow you to provide this experience to your Key Stage 2 pupils. This is typically at least a term per year, at 1 hour per week, but depending on circumstances could be twice this much. I can come and deliver whole class vocal or instrumental lessons to meet your school's needs and it will be paid for entirely through your funding. That's often it. Contact me to find out what we can do in your context.
I hold a current CRB check, last updated Autumn 2009,which ensures you can be confident in my working around the children in your establishment. The instruments I bring with me are regularly serviced and maintained by either myself and/or the Devon County Instrument Store staff, and where appropriate are sterilised before each use with a class of pupils. In the case of Junk Band instruments, the items used are sourced from responsible companies, which ensure the items do not contain and are not coated with inappropriate substances, and where necessary have been sterilised using industrial methods before being used in the classroom. I am happy to discuss this with you if necessary, and refer you to other agencies that can inform you further.
The resources available on this site are provided to support the teaching and learning in the schools in which I am working, but also to support colleagues in theor own teaching. I provide all these visual aids, PowerPoints, documents, musical scores and AV files freely, but request that I am credited as source.
A CMS is a piece of software that lives on your website. Because it is software, not pages like a book, it can be edited by you - this is the big bonus! But also, it allows many interactive and exciting facilities to make your website vibrant, up-to-date and interactive to your audience, clients and customers. It means that, once built, your website is truly your own to change and improve as you will. It also ensures a future-proof tool which is infinitely upgradable as your needs change! Find out more about this in the 'Web Services' pages.
